New course in 2024

Anyone who has ever sailed knows: no matter how carefully you pay attention to your compass, keep a close eye on the wind and current and trim your sails as best as possible, you still sometimes have to turn the ship. Adjusting, losing weight and luffing, tacking: it's all part of sailing. That's how it goes when you have a company: you have a goal in mind, work hard and keep your finger on the pulse every day. From time to time you need to zoom out and see if you are still on track, if your goals and vision are still achievable, or if it is time to change course. For us, 2023 was such a year, after 5 years as an engineering firm it was time to take stock and check whether we were still on track. 'What are the developments within yacht building? Should we focus more on 3D drawing? Is it feasible to grow further in this sector and in this region?' A few of the questions we could no longer ignore.

It was always our ambition to be a real engineering agency, we wanted to share our knowledge and interest young people in yacht interior construction. But qualified personnel are difficult to find in these times with a major shortage of personnel. It turned out to be a major challenge to find enough young people who really want to develop into a fully-fledged engineer in yacht interior construction. You have to be prepared to work hard for a number of years before you can work at a high level in the superyacht sector. For this you have to be driven and really have a passion for superyachts. We have had the pleasure of training a number of motivated young people in recent years, but it appears not to be enough for continued growth. The market demands more capacity and to guarantee continuity we would actually have to grow to around 10 staff, but with the current staff shortage this appears to be too big a step.

That is why we are letting go of pure engineering and from now on we will focus on project management in the field of design & engineering of exclusive yacht interiors and exteriors. We take the experience of recent years into our work as interim managers; we now have even more experience in managing complex interior projects, running teams and all the other challenges that engineering an exclusive yacht interior entails.

It remains a privilege to contribute to the construction of the world's most beautiful yachts, and our drive for that remains undiminished. Our visit to the Monaco Yacht Show confirmed this for us: when you come face to face with the best that the Dutch superyacht sector has to offer the world, you can only be proud and grateful to work in this industry. Whether it's a refit or a new design, the challenge and emotion that a superyacht evokes still quickens our hearts. In 2024, we are charting a different course, but with the same drive.

We wish everyone a fantastic new year and hope that we can continue to help you realize grand dreams in the coming year!
